King caught lying

Crays caught in electoral pot – 22 Nov 2007 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

The headline says “Crays caught in electoral pot” but could just as easily read King Caught Lying” because buried in the article further down was this little gem.
National Party deputy leader Bill English said the bill prevented Television New Zealand screening party advertisements because Government entities, including crown- owned companies, “may not publish or cause or permit to be published any election advertisement”.

Justice Minister Annette King said the Broadcasting Act would allow the television network to broadcast such advertisements.

However, there is no provision in either act to state which act prevails – and Ms King later effectively admitted Mr English had a point by issuing a press release saying she had asked officials to look into it.
Oh really! King lies to parliament and now officials have to look at it. How about an apology to Bill English (god that grates) and to David Farrar as it is now more than once that the Minister has been shown her distinct lack of even a modicum of knowledge of her bill before the house.

Don’t hold your breath for an apology from Jordan or the sub-Standard either.
