ACT worried, Labour probably will just break the law

MPs in spin over election spending – 18 Mar 2008 – NZ Herald: New Zealand National news

MP’s, as reported by DPF the other day and now by the Herald, are becoming very, very nervous about the unintended consequences of the Electoral Finance Act.

Even though items were bought, paid for and printed prior to the regulated period they still count as election advertising under aspects of the law.

Labour is starting to look very silly in passing this law. They would have spent literally millions of taxpayers money preparing brochures and pamphlets prior to the regulated period only to find now that they don’t comply with their own stupid law.

Labour of course will just willy-nilly ignore the law because if they are proved wrong they will be thinking that after they steal the election they will just retrospectively change the law to suit themelves.
