Why is milk more expensive than petrol?

TopdressingA whole bunch of reasons really, drought, world commodity price and rising input prices.

Rising input prices? How expensive is grass? I hear you cry.

Well very expensive. For the grass to grow you need to fertilise it especially after a drought. So you put fertiliser on it. Well maybe you do but the price of fertiliser has risen 77 per cent from $270 per tonne to $480 per tonne.

To make matters worse we don’t get to have a petrol price drop because the decline in the value of the NZD has wiped that out.
