Bad news for Pork Chop

uh-oh Bad news for Pork Chop.

Morbidly obese people [like Pork Chop] who catch swine flu are at a higher risk of developing a more serious illness than most, despite obesity not being formally identified as a risk factor, health professionals say.

Health Ministry key adviser Dr Sandy Dawson said it was becoming apparent that morbidly obese people who contracted swine flu were at a higher risk of becoming more seriously ill but it was unclear whether being overweight was the main factor.

“The issue for people with serious obesity… is that actually a whole heap of those people have the co-morbidities anyway – the have the diabetes, cardiovascular and breathing disorders,” he said.

No mention of people with brain tumours or those with mad mothers though.
