Captain Panic Pants will be in a tizz over this

Some genius at National has decided to have the following dinner at the Conference in August.

s will be a Dinner to celebrate 75 years of the New Zealand National Party and will be themed around the 1930?s. This will be a formal event and we encourage dressing for this period, however it is not a requirement.

Obviously no one thought to tell Captain Panic Pants or he would have put the kibosh on it because it is clear that the media will feast on a bunch of old white people dressed up in depression era costumes doing daggy dancing. They will love the analogies, and instead of asking simple, sensible questions about politics the PM will be asked about whether there is some hidden message about dressing the National Party like it was still in the thirties.
