Who is paying?

Len Brown is offering semi-final tickets as compensation.

Ticket holders who missed the Rugby World Cup opening match because of “unprecedented” public transport failures are set to be compensated with semi-final tickets.

Nearly 1000 people have reported they missed the cup opening ceremony at Eden Park because of train delays, with some missing the game between the All Blacks and Tonga.

Auckland Mayor Len Brown today announced the compensation package for those who missed out on opening night action.

Unprecedented? Really? The same number of people who took the train that night is the same number who took the train to the Bledisloe test a month earlier.

Is this Len Brown’s way of accepting responsibility, and if that is the case then why isn’t he paying personally?

Perhaps this is why he has delayed my LGOIMA request for an extra month.
