Danish Mohammed cartoonist survives shooting

In 2007, it allegedly all started with this

A man fired into a cafe in Denmark [yesterday], targeting Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has drawn caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. One man was killed and three police officers injured.

The Copenhagen cafe was hosting a free speech event Saturday. The gunman fired some 30 shots through the windows of the Krudttoenden cafe.

Other sources have claimed as many as 200 rounds were fired.

The gunman got away and so far, there has been no claim of responsibility.

The attack came a month after Islamic militants gunned down a dozen at the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.

“I heard someone firing with an automatic weapons and someone shouting. Police returned the fire and I hid behind the bar. I felt surreal, like in a movie,” Niels Ivar Larsen, one of the speakers at the event, told the TV2 channel, according to the Associated Press.

Vilks’s cartoons are also to blame for Sweden’s first-ever suicide bombing in 2010, according to Business Insider, the same year seven Muslims were arrested by authorities in Ireland for planning to kill the cartoonist.

We have let the enemy in, and they live among us. ?New Zealand needs to learn from this and adjust its immigration and visa policies to ensure we screen for high risk Islamic immigrants and visitors.

It makes me sick that they come here to enjoy our rights, freedoms and privileges, and then some of them turn on their host nation with violence to try and remove the freedoms that offend them. ?It didn’t offend them enough not to immigrate mind you. ?It didn’t offend them enough to stay where they were. ?But apparently it’s upsetting enough to go kill people over.
