Bon Voyage Dave

I saw this the other day and only just getting to it.

My good friend Dave Chambers from Countdown has been promoted by Woolworths to head up over 900 supermarkets across Australia.

Regular readers will recall Dave copping a lot of flack on Whaleoil for heading up Countdown in New Zealand during a period that many Kiwi suppliers would say involved mafia-styled stand over tactics.

This led to a year?s investigation by the Commerce Commission into 90 odd complaints about Countdown?s buying behaviour.

Steve Donohue has been appointed acting Managing Director. Steve was Countdown?s General Manager Merchandise. His profile says: ?

Steve has worked in a variety of buying and marketing roles throughout the Woolworths group over the past 20 years. In his most recent role he was responsible for the buying teams that support the Woolworths Liquor Group which includes Dan Murphy?s, BWS, Cellarmasters and Langton?s.

Steve?and his team manage all buying and merchandising for the business, and work closely with more than 1200 suppliers.

Mmmm, managing all buying for the business? what?s the bet the 90 odd Kiwi suppliers that shared their views with the Commerce Commission were tickled pink with this announcement.
