CWC: NZ v WIN (Quarter final number 4)

Today’s the day.

I think most of us are puckered up over this game. ?No upsets in the quarters so far. ?And on paper we should take this game decisively.

The last pool game left us in doubt. ?It wasn’t clinical. ?It was too close for comfort. ?It wasn’t the result that gives us any confidence for today.

If we get beaten in the semis, or the final, the public will forgive the Blackcaps. ?We’re at the business end, and to lose to anyone other than the West Indies will be at least something we can rationalise.

If Mike Hesson has achieved one thing with this team, it’s that they are clearly in a different head space. ?He’s even talked to ex-All Black coach Graham Henry about the pressures at the sharp end of the competition.

At this point, we know the Blackcaps have the skill to take the Windies down. ? Have the boys got the mental toughness not to get in their own way?
