Investigative Journalist Nicky Hager “leaks” more data

Journalist and Dirty Politics author Nicky Hager is expected to [continue to] drip feed spying revelations over the coming days.

They’re based on classified U.S. files leaked by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, and will show the extent of New Zealand’s foreign spying capabilities.

Prime Minister John Key is discounting the expose already.

“I’m not worried in the slightest. I intend to sleep like an absolute baby tonight.”

You have to ask: ?what possible motivation does an investigative journalist have in exposing how the New Zealand government deals with national security matters?

Why is this man held in such high esteem by other media? ?(Well, the NZ Herald, but Fairfax are gloriously calling him an “investigative journalist” also)

Why does he never work on jobs that might embarrass politicians that aren’t part of the National Party?

Is someone who’s books have been virtually exclusively based on material from and about National Party governments and their business an investigative journalist?

A journalist at all?

Hager is nothing but a public conduit through which criminals, activists and saboteurs are able to grab the attention of the media. ? He is to some degree used. ? Dirty Politics was all pre-processed for him and provided on a flash drive.

Sure, he wrote the book. ?Maybe. ?But all the hard work was done by others.

He is the recipient of stolen documents, ?then publishes them. ?There isn’t a lot of investgating going on. ?And today, the NZ Herald continue to give the man legitimacy, such as it is.

It continues the slide of the NZ Herald. ?We already know Hager to make a living of the criminal enterprise of others, but now the NZ Herald thing that undermining national security is news.

The only spying on private citizens in New Zealand in recent years has been by Nicky Hager and his media enablers like David Fisher and Matt Nippert that they don’t agree with politically.
