IDF detains Hamas-hugging Green MP, while rockets rain down on Israel

While Hamas-hugging Green party MP?Marama Davidson has been detained, Israel has come under rocket attack from Gaza.

The Israeli Navy on Wednesday evening took over control of a boat of women activists that was headed to Gaza as a protest against Israel?s security blockade of the coastal strip.

The IDF confirmed the takeover.

The boat was commandeered without violence or any resistance from the 13 activists onboard, the army said.

It was intercepted some 35 nautical miles (65 kilometers) from the Gaza coast, and was making its way slowly toward the Israeli port of Ashdod.

The group of 13 women, including 1976 Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Maguire, was traveling aboard the Zaytouna-Oliva sailboat in the Mediterranean Sea toward the Hamas-run Palestinian enclave.

?In accordance with government directives and after exhausting all diplomatic channels, the Israeli Navy redirected the vessel in order to prevent breach of the lawful maritime blockade,? the IDF said in a statement.

?In accordance with international law, the Israeli Navy advised the vessel numerous times to change course prior to the action. Following their refusal the Navy visited and searched the vessel in international waters in order to prevent their intended breach of the lawful maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. The visit and search of the vessel was uneventful,? the statement concluded.

Women soldiers were placed at the forefront of the navy?s interception force, Israel Radio reported, in order to minimize friction with the activists.

The activists put up a website carrying prepared ?SOS messages? by those on board alleging they had been ?kidnapped? by the IDF.

And now they will be escorted to Ben Gurion Airport, have their passports stamped with a permanent ban against entering Israel and deported.

Meanwhile the people they were supporting have launched a rocket attack against Israel from Gaza, with rockets landing in Sderot.

A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck a street in the city of Sderot in southern Israel on Wednesday morning, police said.

Three people who ?suffered anxiety attacks? were treated by medical teams, but no one was physically hurt by the attack, according to the Magen David Adom medical service.

The three ? including a 15-year-old girl and 60-year-old man ? were taken to Ashkelon?s Barzilai Medical Center for further care, MDA paramedic Oren Benita said.

Israel Defense Forces tanks responded to the rocket attack with strikes against Hamas sites in the northern Gaza Strip, the army said.

The Islamic State-affiliated Ahfad al-Sahaba-Aknaf Bayt al-Maqdis terrorist group took responsibility for the rocket launch in statements released in both Arabic and Hebrew.

?Oh you cowardly Jews: You don?t have safety in our land. [Former defense minister Moshe] Ya?alon, the failure at giving security. [Defense Minister Avigdor] Liberman to fail will be a certainty,? the salafist group said in its statement, in poorly translated Hebrew.

The attack against Israel was apparently a response to the Strip?s Hamas rulers arresting several members of the Salafist organization, according to the group?s statement.

The rocket alert siren was activated at approximately 10:20 a.m. and was heard in Sderot, Nir Am, Ivim and Gevim.

A few minutes later, Israel Police officers located the rocket in Sderot. The road was damaged in the attack, as were several nearby cars and homes.

Police sappers were called to the scene, and the area was closed off to pedestrians and traffic, police said.

Nice one Marama, while you were supposedly fighting for women’s rights in Gaza the same people you were fighting for were attacking women in Sderot.

I hope she enjoys those stainless steel bracelets.
