Northland porno principal implicates other principals, police and ministry staff

At a hearing of the?education disciplinary tribunal a Northland principal has smeared his fellow teachers, principals, police and even MoE officials in trying to mitigate his filthy collection of porn on his computers and devices.

A respected Northland principal says 1500 pornographic images found on his work computer were ‘joke’ emails sent to him by other principals, Ministry of Education officials and police officers.

The principal, who has interim name suppression, was stood down over questions around financial management at the school.

He was today explaining himself to the education disciplinary tribunal sitting in Auckland, which granted him, the school and other staff members interim name suppression.

The principal, an experienced educator, today said he was ashamed and embarrassed by the images found on his work devices. ?

He was using the school’s email and devices for his personal use because of the long hours he was working, he said, and directed his personal correspondence there.

The pornographic images found on his device were all “sent to me by email over the years”, he said, and were not solicited by him and neither did he he go looking for them online.

“They came from principals, Ministry [of Education] officials, police, who are good friends of mine,” he said.

The devices – a desktop computer, laptop, smartphone and iPad – were password protected and only ever in his possession, he said, and were not able to be accessed by pupils. However, he admitted he had not taken specific steps to prevent them being accessed by the children.

At the time he considered the images “raunchy” and ‘jokes’ between mates rather than pornographic, he said. But had come to the realisation that they were disrespectful and inappropriate.

He agreed on questioning that the material was of a moderate to high grade pornographic nature.

Unfortunately, we can’t know who he is because of suppression orders. That just means the 150 odd principals in Northland are all now smeared and tarred with the same brush until his suppression comes off.

As for his claims…in all the years I’ve been using the internet (right from the very start, pretty much) very few people I know have sent me images that could be deemed to be?material “of a moderate to high grade pornographic nature”. I simply don’t believe his story.

Yet another case of a registered teacher before the court or tribunal processes. It is obvious that registration provides scant protection for children.
