PRESS RELEASE on behalf of Rachel MacGregor

EMBARGOED UNTIL 5PM 3 OCTOBER 2016

MacGregor v Craig ? HUMAN RIGHTS REVIEW TRIBUNAL DECISION

On 4 May 2015 Rachel MacGregor and Colin Craig attended a confidential mediation at which they agreed to a confidential settlement.

In June and July 2015 Mr Craig gave a series of interviews and published a booklet, which he distributed nationwide, in which he breached that confidentiality.

Ms MacGregor took a claim to the Human Rights Review Tribunal seeking enforcement of the confidentiality undertakings and seeking damages for the harm caused by the breaches.

The Tribunal held a five day hearing in December 2015 and issued its decision in March 2016.

The Tribunal hearing, and the Tribunal?s decision, is the subject of extensive suppression orders. Those orders are lifted at 5pm today.

Ms MacGregor had wanted this Decision published before the events central to her confidentiality claim became publicly known through the Williams v Craig defamation trial.

She will not be available for interviews. She is still bound by the confidentiality of the original mediation settlement and irrespective of the defamation proceedings those undertakings mean she cannot talk about her relationship with Mr Craig, the sexual harassment claim against Mr Craig or the outcome of the settlement. [our emphasis – WO]

Ms MacGregor?s lawyers, Hayden Wilson and Linda Clark of Kensington Swan, will be available for a media briefing at 5.15pm at Level 9, 89 The Terrace.
