Someone needs to learn to STFU

Fresh?from a weekend slapping after losing a major defamation suit, Colin Craig has gotten slammed by the Human Rights Review Tribunal with another record sum.

You couldn’t read a more damning report with line after line essentially describing Colin Craig as a creep and one who was extremely self-serving and very economical with the truth.

The stories he has told for the past 18 months have been laid bare finally.

You’d think he would shut?his gob.

Mr Craig, responding to the release of the ruling, said he respected the decision, but believed there were mitigating factors to his breaching of the confidentiality agreement.

“Either I stayed silent, no matter what people said about me and watched as my silence was interpreted as guilt, or I broke my confidentiality agreement with Rachel MacGregor in the course of defending myself,” he said in a statement.

“I accepted that I was in breach of my confidentiality obligations both publicly and when the breach was considered by the HRRT.

“However, I thought there were very strong mitigating circumstances. ?

“I am pleased that the High Court has ruled in its recent decision that I was entitled to respond to the attack (which is the basic right to defend yourself), but I am disappointed that in its decision the HRRT was so critical of me given the extreme and inexplicable circumstances I found myself in.

“However I respect the differing areas of jurisdiction and I did not appeal the HRRT’s decision.”

Mr Craig added that the confidentiality agreement was still in place and he could not comment further on the matters between himself and Ms MacGregor.

For a start, he sets about breaking the settlement agreement yet again. Does he not get it?

This line is the kicker though:

“I am pleased that the High Court has ruled in its recent decision that I was entitled to respond to the attack (which is the basic right to defend yourself), but I am disappointed that in its decision the HRRT was so critical of me given the extreme and inexplicable circumstances I found myself in.

He’s wrong. The High Court found no such thing. Justice Katz ruled that Colin Craig had the defence of qualified privilege available to him. That is all. The court didn’t find that he was entitled to respond to an attack, the court found that he LOST qualified privilege and they found against him. Not only that they found that his defamation of Jordan Williams was so bad they slammed him with rare punitive damages.

That single sentence continues his defamation of Jordan Williams. He already has further breaches against him from his comments to NewstalkZB and Radio NZ on Friday night. I’d suggest any chance of a trim for the damages and the possibility of appeal are evaporating rapidly.
