Kite warfare

At war and can’t afford an armed drone? Use a flaming kite. Hamas has been sending hundreds of incendiary kites daily into Israel for the last month, successfully destroying fields and nature reserves, causing five million shekels worth of damage and the destruction of more than 6,000 acres of land close to the Gaza border.

Israel has now decided the Palestinians will pay for the losses to the communities and landowners caused by kite fires. Quote

Israel?s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday instructed the head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben-Shabbat, to withhold payments to the PA to offset compensation that is to be paid to farmers in southern Israel. Widespread damage has been caused to their crops following wildfires that broke out last month, with damages estimated at five million shekels ($1.4 million), according to the Israeli Tax Authority. Israel’s Iron Dome defence has been repelling the worst spate of rocket and mortar attacks since 2014 but the incendiary kites are causing more damage than the rockets and missiles that have been coming their way since 2001.

This new attack is a very inventive move from the Palestinians. Israel already has its hands full at the border protecting aid infrastructure, repelling violent protestors, demolishing the tunnels constantly being rebuilt and keeping border fences intact.

Israel is now appealing to the International Criminal Court [ICC] but only to make a point as they can’t possibly expect a fair hearing. Quote.

“The Israeli NGO Shurat HaDin is building a case against Hamas to be submitted to the International Criminal Court over the terrorist group?s use of flaming kites that targeted Israeli border farms over the past month.” End of quote.

Shurat HaDin founder and president Nitzana Darshan-Leitner said: quote.

“It cannot be that senior Hamas officials will accuse Israel of war crimes while using a civilian population, especially children, as human shields for their terrorist activities, which are repeatedly targeted at Israeli citizens,? she said. ?Therefore, we call on the International Criminal Court [ICC] in The Hague to exact justice upon them.?? Hamas?s offenses are ?a flagrant violation of many articles of the Rome Statute,? the NGO said.” End of quote.

Israel is responding in tit for tat fashion because the Palestinian Authority only last week asked the International Criminal Court to investigate Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity on the basis that building homes on land taken by force is a war crime, regardless of the reality that the actions taken were retaliatory responses to ongoing aggression.? Quote.

“The Palestinians returned to the ICC in the aftermath of accelerated settlement activity in which Israel advanced plans for over 10,000 new homes in 2017.? Israel also created a new settlement in 2017 and began the process of approving another one earlier this year.

The renewed PLO push at the ICC, is just one of a number of Palestinian activities against Israel on the international stage over the last five days. With the help of Kuwait the PA has asked the United Nations Security Council to consider providing it with international protection.

It also successfully swayed the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday to launch a commission of inquiry into the IDF killing of Palestinian protestors during violent riots on the Gaza border.” End of quote.

Israel must know that its chances of help from the international community are zero, particularly from the United Nations, which only has ears for the Palestinians, as Nikki Haley the United States Ambassador to the United Nations constantly points out.

The Palestinian Authority has already convinced the United Nation Human Rights Council to launch an investigation into the recent Israeli Defence Force killing of Palestinian protestors going about their business while burning tyres to hide their nefarious activities.

In March this year UNHRC passed five human rights violation charges criticising Israel’s behaviour toward the Palestinians.

The United Nations Human Rights Council is a joke.? It has two charges against Syria and only one against Iran.

Dozens of incidents of chemical warfare against civilians in Syria and civilians used as human shields in Gaza are totally obliterated by Israel’s single crime of building houses. Houses built on land they took in retaliation to aggression from Egypt that prompted the 1967 war and multiple attacks from Lebanon and Gaza that are still ongoing. ? Quote.

“[ICC] prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has weighed the question of formally opening a war-crimes investigation into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She has not yet reached any conclusions.” End of quote.

Bensouda is keeping an open mind, right?? I think we all know that her mind is already made up and Israel will not get cut any slack from the International Criminal Court . ?? Quote.

“Last month, Bensouda warned both Hamas and Israel that they could be liable for war-crimes prosecutions over their actions in Gaza.? Violence against civilians ? in a situation such as the one prevailing in Gaza ? could constitute crimes under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, as could the use of civilian presence for the purpose of shielding military activities,? she said.”? End of quote.

Neither Israel or Palestine will be particularly worried about this threat as both know Bensouda will probably follow the lead set by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Strong winds have fortuitously kept kites on the ground some days and the Israel Defence Force is working on methods of intercepting them, including the use of drones. ?The swastika on this kite highlights the connection between Islam and Nazi Germany, which is a mutual desire to exterminate Jews.

On the 31st of May a senior Israeli Defence Force official warned that Israel was closer to war than it has been in four years since Protective Edge in 2014.

Then on June 3rd came the news that Israel was retaliating against border security issues, riots, attempts to breach the border fence, trashing the aid station?infrastructure at the Kerem Shalom crossing, flaming kite attacks and the recent missile attacks from Gaza. Quote.

“Israeli air force jets carried out a wave of airstrikes against targets in the Gaza Strip late Saturday night after mortars were fired towards southern Israeli communities earlier on Saturday evening.

According to accounts, the IAF jets hit several Hamas targets and at least one Islamic Jihad target shortly after a tank fired shells towards a Hamas observation post east of Gaza City.

No casualties were reported and it is believed Hamas and Islamic Jihad ordered their men to evacuate the targeted outposts before the IAF began the strikes.” End of quote

The technologically superior Israeli Airforce strike and the withholding of funding to the PA will continue until terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad back off.

Expect to hear nothing from mainstream media about the real reasons behind the recent Israeli air strikes because, as usual, Israel will be reprimanded for its supposedly unjustified aggression.? In contrast if there are civilian casualties on the Palestinian side the media will be all over it and Hamas as usual will be delighted.
