I’d go for cock-up over conspiracy

There are accusations being hurled around parliament over the ‘leak’ of Simon Bridges’ expenses.

Some idiots, mostly in Labour, are suggesting it is a coup attempt but, as Tracy Watkins points out, that if that was the case then the leaker has to be a special kind of stupid: Quote:

Was it an internal party attempt to embarrass Bridges and destabilise his leadership? That seems breathtakingly brazen and kamikaze-like, given the latest public polls have National on 45 per cent under his leadership. But never rule out an ambitious politician making mischief. End quote.

There is nothing in the offing inside National. If there was I’d know about it.

Could Labour have done it as a distraction? Possibly, but unlikely. These figures were going to be released on Thursday?anyway so it isn’t like they were going to be secret for very long. That doesn’t seem like much of a distraction to me, if it was going to be released anyway.

There is no way it would be Trevor Mallard, but it could be someone in Ministerial Services or Parliamentary Services. But, most likely it is just a cock-up. Someone sent it to the wrong person by mistake and Fake Newshub gleefully jumped on it.

The money is neither here nor there, and small change at the end of the day when you consider how much is wasted on welfare. However, it does highlight that despite all the efforts of Simon Bridges, and a fair bit of coin from taxpayers, his approvals are poor and unlikely to improve.

No one in national is going to move against Bridges while the party polling is on 45%, so all that is left is cock-up rather than conspiracy, which makes Bridges’ calls for a full enquiry so pathetic.

Caucus members should be asking what Bridges’ approval ratings are. If the brains trust won’t tell them then that is all you need to know. They are shit and therefore a secret, because you may be sure that if they were like John Key’s then we’d all know about them.

The only concern is the lack of traction that has occurred despite all the travel.
