Poll: Digital image

JAG with shopping bags. Digital photo credit: Pixy

I had a conversation with my parents over dinner the other night and showed them the digital image that some of our readers had mistaken for an original photo. I asked them what ‘Digital photo’ meant to them and they assumed that it just meant that it was an original photo that was digital. It did not occur to them that we were telling the reader that the photo had been digitally altered.

A few days ago we implemented a rule with our digital image team to watermark photos so that people will realise that they were created. However, after talking to my parents I realised that we also need to change the terminology?in our captions so that it?will be crystal clear to our readers that a photo has been altered.

With that goal in mind, I have created a poll. Please help us select the best terminology to use in the future.
