The left are making America racist again

For a brief time, it seemed that America had finally put its historic obsession with race into the grave it so richly deserved. The high-tide line of this moment seemed to be the election of the United State?s first black president. Unfortunately, that very president would turn out to be the man who, more than any other, pulled the rug out from under America?s racial progress.

In relentlessly screaming at ordinary Americans about ?racism?, the post-Obama left are not only perpetrating the very thing they claim to deplore, they are facilitating its cancerous growth. Quote:

Progressive rhetoric on race has turned an ugly corner and the existence of ?anti-white? attitudes can no longer be ignored. End of quote.

The coastal elites who make up the bulk of the American left are often completely unaware of what goes on in ?flyover country?. Mostly white communities across middle America have been in long-term decline. Rural white Americans are the only group in the country to see their life expectancy actually decline. Middle American communities are also being demographically transformed by (mostly illegal) immigration, in ways few communities in human history have ever experienced.

When poor white communities fret about their destruction, the left sneer. If the left elite ever deign to take the concerns of rural whites seriously, they actually celebrate.

Despite being mostly white themselves, the left have decided that they just hate white people. Quote:

What is new is the direct indictment of white people as a race? What started as irony turned into an actual belief that white people, specifically white men, are more dangerous and immoral than any other people. Loosely backed up by historical inequities and disparities in mass shootings, this position has begun to take a serious foothold. End of quote.

Martin Luther King Jr dreamed of the day when America would be a nation where people will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character. King?s vision was of an America where race went unnoticed. The modern left demand that everyone be acutely aware of, and if white, constantly apologise for their race. Quote:

Treating people equally has given way to making all of us ambassadors for our race?White people are being asked?or pushed?to take stock of their whiteness and identify with it more. This is a remarkably bad idea. The last thing our society needs is for white people to feel more tribal. The result of this tribalism will not be a catharsis of white identity, improving equality for non-whites. It will be resentment towards being the only tribe not given the special treatment bestowed by victimhood?

As white people gravitate away from [ethnic] identities, many see themselves as a neutral, ?non racial? population. The Left criticizes this refusal to see themselves as ?white,? but it is far preferable to the alternative: an American white population that views itself as a special-interest group. End of quote.

Forcing people to be constantly aware of their skin colour and berating them for it might make a few masochistic leftists feel good, but most people are rightly going to be resentful. Apart from the crawling white worms, as journalist Jim Goad calls them, nobody wants to feel inferior. If people are lectured that their skin colour is their defining characteristic, they will wear that as a badge of pride.

Yet, given the relentless assault on white people from media and academics, whites are proving remarkably reluctant to embrace white-identity movements. Despite the lurid scare-mongering of the race-baiting left, ?white supremacy? movements are almost non-existent. Quote:

From 2014 to 2015, the number of active Klu Klux Klan chapters in the United States grew from 72 to 190. End of quote.

Leftists and apologetic conservatives might swoon and clutch their pearls at such a number, but the fact is that the Klan is a chimera. Even the notoriously biased Southern Poverty Law Centre estimates maximum membership at between 5-8000. Given America?s white population of over 250 million, the Klan accounts for less than one-third of 1% of white Americans. The Charlottesville torchlight rally that convinced leftists that America was a seething hotbed of racists mustered barely more than dozens of actual white supremacists.

As rapper and anarcho-capitalism activist Eric July has said, it?s absolutely incredible how a group of 1 to 200 white dudes in polo shirts can trigger the whole country.

But that groups like the KKK are growing at all, however infinitesimal their numbers, is a matter of concern. But constantly berating white people does nothing to halt them: in fact, it abets them. Denigrating blacks in the early 20th century didn?t make them more servile: it made them resentful. White people are no different.

The left is creating the very problem it rails against. Quote:

In reducing all phenomena to a question of race?the progressive left ensure the dominance of racial resentment as the lynchpin of our society?we must return to the goal of treating people as individuals, not as representatives of their race. End of quote.
