Culture clash: It’s not a public lecture if women are excluded

Someone needs to explain to Shaykh Omar El Banna that women in New Zealand have rights. ALL women, not just non-Muslim women.

In an Islamic building such as a mosque and, because there is religious freedom, he can make the sexes sit apart; but to exclude women altogether from a public meeting is not culturally acceptable in New Zealand.

What is he going to be talking about and why does he not want Muslim women to hear what he has to say?

Our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is all about being inclusive as we are all New Zealanders. Forbidding New Zealand Muslim women from attending the lecture is divisive and goes against all the freedoms that New Zealand women have fought for. #NotDiverse #NotInclusive
