Only one US mass shooting with a worse outcome than Christchurch

We Kiwis proudly claim that New Zealand ‘punches above its weight’ in so many fields. On Friday in Christchurch, an Aussie added a new category for New Zealand; one of shame and hate.

Currently, the number of victims murdered while at prayer ranks New Zealand at number 9 in the world list of deadliest shootings.

World Atlas

It is almost a certainty that New Zealand will move to 8th on that list. Of these atrocities 4, 6, and 7 were the work of a single shooter and it appears that this is also the case in Christchurch.

Number 7 in South Korea appears to be someone who randomly went on a spree, maybe drunk, maybe simply cross with his girlfriend, maybe grumpy about his posting to the countryside. He was killed so we will never know but terrorism and hatred were not the motivators.

Number 6 still has more unanswered questions about it than a box of Trivial Pursuit. Motivation? Who knows? He was killed as well.

Number 4 has been well canvassed and was clearly a hate driven attack.

Thus New Zealand rises to number two in the world for the number of victims from a single perpetrator, hate driven, mass shooting.

There is much emphasis in our media about ‘another mass shooting’ in America and it is sobering to note that there is only one US mass shooting with a worse outcome than Christchurch.

New Zealand has truly lost its innocence.

It could have been a truck, like Nice (87 dead) or a bomb like (pick a country) but it was guns and so gun control will come. But that really is not the issue.

The root of the problem is not how they kill but why they kill.

Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

A columnist has picked up on that and written: quote.

He is ideological but, like Breivik, not meaningfully religious, and comes close to denying that he is even Christian. end quote

It seems the answer to his question above is abundantly clear. No, you are not a Christian for Jesus told his disciples:

By their fruit [meaning ‘actions’] you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Matt 7:16

And in that spirit, please give generously. A give-a-little page has been setup to support the victims of the attack, you can find it here.
