Wilfull ideological blindness is the greater threat to transgenders

A transgender activist dealing with inconvenient facts.

Contemporary ?transgender? ideology touts itself as ?progressive? and ?caring?, but almost invariably the opposite seems to be true. Not only are too many ?transgender activists? (most of whom seem not to even be transgender themselves) hateful, intolerant bigots, but the program they espouse doesn?t seem to do anything to address the staggering problems the tiny number of actual transgenders face.

In particular, refusing to recognise the overwhelming evidence of shocking rates of mental ill-health in the transgender population is not helping them in any way. Suicide rates among transgenders are staggering. Now, as it turns out, HIV is even worse. Blindly asserting that there?s nothing wrong and that it?s all just ?society?s fault? is doing a shocking disservice to a deeply troubled group. Quote:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a ?Dear Colleague? letter Wednesday with warnings about the high prevalence and risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among transgender individuals? According to current estimates, about 1 in 7 (14%) transgender women have HIV, and the percentage is much higher among black/African American (44%) and Hispanic/Latina (26%) transgender women.* An estimated 3% of transgender men have HIV. End of quote.

These numbers are absolutely shocking, but they probably shouldn?t come as much surprise. The range of co-morbidities (the presence of one or more additional diseases or disorders) associated with transgenderism are well-attested in the medical literature.

Sadly, the political climate has become so deranged from anything resembling commonsense that such simple truths cannot be stated any more. Confronted with such horrifying evidence of the problems associated with transgenderism, even supposedly sober bodies like the CDC resort to fudging and politically-correct dodging. Quote:

Many transgender people face obstacles that make it harder to access HIV services?such as stigma and discrimination, inadequate employment or housing, and limited access to welcoming, supportive health care. Addressing these barriers is essential to the health and well-being of transgender people and to meeting the goals of the proposed federal initiative Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is committed to working with you to make sure all transgender people can get the tools they need to prevent HIV and stay healthy if they have HIV. End of quote.

Well, that?s all very right-on and rainbow-progressive, but it?s dodging the actual issue: horrifying rates of HIV infection.

We?ve known since the 1980s how HIV is spread and how to prevent it. Back in the 80s, apart from a fringe of HIV denialists, the gay community acknowledged what had to be done to save themselves, and did it. Campaigns promoting condom use were common public health campaigns, in both the gay and the wider community. As a result, HIV infection rates plummeted.

But commonsense ? not to say personal responsibility ? are very much on the outer, these days. All that matters is pretending that everything?s fine and it?s against anyone?s ?human rights? to suggest that there might be something wrong with them. Quote:

The WHO said simply stating transgender individuals are not mentally ill will promote ?better social acceptance of individuals living with gender incongruence.?

?It was taken out from mental health disorders because we had better understanding that this wasn?t actually a mental health condition,? said Dr. Lale Say, the coordinator of the adolescents and at-risk populations team at the WHO. ?Leaving it there was causing stigma, so in order to reduce the stigma, while also ensuring access to necessary health interventions this was placed to a different chapter, the sexual health chapter, in the new ICD??Say referenced a similar decision ?on removing homosexuality out of ICD completely.? End of quote.

That is, not to put too fine a point on it, just so much evidence-free baloney. But, what else should we expect from the UN, these days? The fact that WHO is conflating homosexuality, a sexual preference, with transgenderism, the (poorly supported by evidence) claim that a person?s ?gender? is contrary to their biological reality, shows how intellectually dishonest the political climate around this issue really is.

Meanwhile, a tiny, deeply troubled, minority group is being sacrificed on the altar of Marxist-inspired, politically-correct nonsense.
