JAG Almost Said Something True!

This week your Unelected Associate Transport Minister Julie-Anne Genter spent most of the time during her various soft MSM interviews dribbling utter tosh from her foreign-born lips.

I generally have to turn the sound down or quickly flick the channel over every time I see her as her grating American accent annoys me about as much as her grating supercilious superiority complex. In fact, I have started making my long-suffering wife feel the need to calm me, as the first thing that escapes my lips each time she comes on the telly is something along the lines of “God I hate that woman!”

So it was surprising that I heard something twang from her lips that was almost true. On Tuesday evening Genter breathlessly advised us of something that was factually correct. I only heard it on the TV so will paraphrase here but she said something along the lines that New Zealand sometimes receives car models that have higher emissions than the same vehicle sold in other countries, simply due to those other countries having stricter emission laws.

Well yep, this is actually true. It all comes down to market forces. All vehicle manufacturers will produce their vehicle to the lowest possible standard they can get away with in the intended market, unless it is actually cheaper for them to meet the higher standard.

Government to drivers: Only electric cars for you!

Greens and the government threaten to go all in on electric cars. Quote.

Quote:If New Zealand is to meet its zero carbon pledge, nearly all the country’s cars will have to be zero-emission by 2050, Climate Change Minister James Shaw says.

As of June, roughly 8700 plug-in cars are on the road of a total fleet of more than four million.

[…]”We think that means about 95 percent of vehicles in the year 2050 will be zero-emissions vehicles.”End of quote.

Nothing but electric cars for you! Quote.

The only pollution at Standing Rock was the trash left behind by environmentalists

Oh the irony, the only pollution at the Standing Rock protest site wasn’t from the oil pipeline, it is from the 2500 ute loads of rubbish the smelly hippies left behind.

Daily Wire reports:

Want to know the damage environmentalists can wreak on an area? Check out these new pictures from North Dakota, where environmentalists protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline left behind such a gargantuan mess near the Cannonball River that ABC News reported, ?Local and federal officials estimate there’s enough trash and debris in the camp to fill about 2,500 pickup trucks.? Those trucks will have to haul the trash? away before the spring thaw, when it will pollute the Missouri River and other waterways.

On Wednesday, Morton County Emergency Manager Tom Doering admitted, ?We?re really fighting the clock. There?s more garbage down there than anybody anticipated.? George Kuntz, vice president of the North Dakota Towing Association, told Western Wire:

There are roughly 200 vehicles down there at last count, ranging from cars and pickups to rental trucks. We?re going to have a very drastic situation trying to keep these vehicles from getting into the river ? what everybody?s been trying to protect from day one. We can?t leave them there. We don?t know what kind of biohazard is going to be produced with all the fluids or any other garbage that?s inside the vehicle.

Winston on Labour and the Greens

Winston Peters has given an interview to Jo Moir from Fairfax and it is very interesting indeed.

He has started signalling where his preferences lie…and they?aren’t where the left-wing thinks they are:

According to Peters, Labour were on the right track last year with their controversial?Chinese-sounding surnames story, which revealed Chinese buyers accounted for 39.5 per cent of buyers compared to the 9 per cent of Auckland’s population recorded as being ethnically Chinese in the last census.

Where they went wrong is that “they lost their nerve”.

That was NZ First’s “missed opportunity”,?if Peters?had to name one. ? Read more »

National MPs should be careful who they select as leader, otherwise this nasty witch gets to be Deputy PM

My commenters climbed in on her:

Isherman:?It’s a pretty painful 8 minutes of viewing, but for anyone who doubted the sheer lack of class from some of the opposition in the Urgent Debate today on Keys resignation, doubt no more.

Hookerphil:?What a horrible person she is

Michelle:?17 seconds was enough for me and l bet John Key will be glad when he no longer has to listen to that voice and gutter talk

And the new leader of the Greens is…..

Taking on Tasmania’s Green Taliban

The Palmer United Party is coming good, in Tasmania at least.

They are calling to account the actions of the Green taliban and fronting them in a very aggressive manner.

The Palmer United Party has fiercely attacked Tasmania’s Greens, saying they should be subject to a Senate inquiry over the state’s high unemployment rate.

PUP’s federal senator-elect for Tasmania, Jacqui Lambie, is laying the blame for the unemployment squarely on the Greens and says she will seek to instigate the inquiry after she enters Parliament in July.

“I simply believe that the Greens have destroyed all hope in Tasmania,” Ms Lambie said.

Labour and Greens want Stalinist price controls on power

Labour and the Greens are committing economic sabotage in proposing Stalinist style state control of power prices.

It would be a disaster for private investors.. all those people with their savings in Contact and Trustpower shares (including Kiwisavers) would have their investment destroyed by their proposal.

Labour is promising to cut the average Kiwi power bill by up to $330 a year if elected to government.

It plans to do so by setting up a single buyer, NZ Power, to purchase all electricity generation at a fair price.

At a joint press conference Green co-leader Russel Norman outlined a similar policy, although the Greens would introduce an element of progressive pricing.? Read more »

Greens are anti-jobs – Gillard

As regular readers will already know I am not a fan of the anti-jobs, anti-people, anti-progress Green taliban. They are luddites. Unfortunately they manage to hoodwink plenty of people into their clutches.

In Australia,?Julia Gillard has attacked them:

A FIERY Julia Gillard blasted the Greens as being anti-jobs as Tony Abbott revealed the Coalition was drawing up contingency plans if Labor made Kevin Rudd, Bill Shorten or Greg Combet leader.

The Prime Minister said it was the Greens who had walked away from their agreement because their policies would hurt jobs.

“At the end of the day, the Greens party is fundamentally a party of protest rather than a party of government … a party that would prefer to complain about things than get solutions,” she said.? Read more »
